Fourteen days of Pro, and what happens after

Most trials ask you to opt in and hand over a card first, then bill you the morning you forget. This one does neither.

It starts on its own

The first time you open Apex Run, a 14-day Pro trial begins. There’s no Start trial button, no Apple sheet to confirm, and no payment method involved, so there is nothing that can charge you at the end.

Everything on the Pro side of the free-versus-Pro line is open for those two weeks: Training Status, Pace Zones, the Race Predictor, Grade Adjusted Pace, Route Playback, Shadow Runner, Today’s Guidance, the FIT tools, all of it.

To see how many days are left, open Profile→Settings . Under ApexRun Pro the row reads Pro Trial Active with the days remaining underneath, marked with an hourglass. Tapping it opens the Pro screen, which shows the same count.

When the two weeks are up

Nothing is charged, because nothing was ever set up to charge. The app drops to the free tier on its own: the Pro sections fold into a padlocked Unlock card where their numbers were, and everything else carries on exactly as before.

Your history is untouched. Every run, split, best effort, record, heart rate zone, shoe and badge stays where it was, because none of that was Pro in the first place.

Subscribing

Tap the ApexRun Pro row in Settings, or any padlocked card in the app, and the Pro screen offers a monthly or yearly subscription. The purchase goes through Apple’s own confirmation sheet and is billed to your Apple ID, the same as any other App Store subscription. Apex Run never sees your payment details.

Once you’re subscribed the Settings row reads PRO, and the Pro screen shows Apex Run Pro Member with your next billing date.

Cancelling

The subscription renews itself until you stop it, and stopping it is Apple’s job rather than the app’s. On the Pro screen, Manage Subscription opens the Subscriptions page of your Apple ID. It’s the same page you reach from your iPhone’s Settings, under your name, then Subscriptions.

Cancel there at least 24 hours before the renewal date and you won’t be billed again. You keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, then drop to the free tier with your history intact.

Refunds are handled by Apple too, through their Report a Problem page, not through the app.

A new phone, or a reinstall

A subscription belongs to your Apple ID, not to one installation. On a new phone, or after deleting and reinstalling the app, open the Pro screen and tap Restore Purchases at the bottom. It brings the subscription back the moment Apple confirms it. The same works on an iPad signed into the same Apple ID.

Worth knowing

• Deleting the app doesn’t restart the trial. The trial’s start date survives a reinstall, so the fourteen days are counted from the first time this device ever opened Apex Run.
• Each device runs its own trial. An iPad gets its own two weeks, counted from the first time it opens the app. A paid subscription, by contrast, follows your Apple ID to every device through Restore Purchases.
• Restore Purchases is for purchases. It brings back a subscription; it can’t extend or reset the trial.
• Today’s Guidance needs an Apple Watch worn overnight, during the trial as much as afterwards, because it’s reading last night’s HRV and sleep. If you’re trialling Pro without a watch, judge it on the rest.
